Peter-Donnell Boynton brings over two decades of leadership and service to the civic and human services sectors in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Currently serving as Director of Human Services for Monmouth County, he oversees a wide array of programs aimed at improving the lives of residents
through coordinated care, emergency housing, and community action initiatives. His work is deeply rooted in the belief that public service should “do the most good,” a philosophy that guides his strategic efforts to streamline access to vital resources and foster collaboration among public and private agencies.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Boynton served for nearly eight years as Director of Community Action Programs and Emergency Housing at the Affordable Housing Alliance, where he led efforts to address housing insecurity and support vulnerable populations. His earlier experience includes founding and leading a Christian Academy in Neptune, New Jersey, where he served as Headmaster for over six years. These roles reflect his enduring commitment to education, equity, and community empowerment, and his ability to build programs that respond to real-world challenges with compassion and innovation.
Dr. Boynton holds advanced degrees in Christian Counseling and Forensic Psychology, including a Ph.D. and Doctor of Ministry from North Central Seminary and a Master of Arts from Northcentral University. He also chairs the Monmouth ACTS Advisory Council, where he plays a pivotal role in launching groundbreaking initiatives like the Monmouth ACTS Navigation System; a first-of-its-kind platform that connects residents to services through live support and electronic referrals. His leadership continues to shape the future of civic engagement and human services in Monmouth County.
Marilyn Piperno, the former Assembly woman for LD11 Monmouth County, New Jersey joins the distinctive Derrick T Graig’s Civic Association. Colts Neck residents for over 20 years, the Piperno family recently relocated to the beautiful area of Eatontown, NJ. Marilyn is a certified National Academy of Sports Medicine Nutrition Coach and Fitness Professional with over 30 years of experience. She holds specialty certifications in Strength training, Mat Sciences, Pilates, Cardio / HIIT as well as a Vinyasa Flow 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification. She currently maintains her coaching profession with the most premier wellness facilities in the area. Her professional career includes over 20 years in New York as a successful Account Manager in publishing. Marilyn believes in public service and has been involved w helping our neighbors, communities & schools.
Jason M. Corley, Sr., a proud 1994 graduate of Long Branch High School, is in his 17th year as the district’s Athletic Administrator. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Kean University in Recreational Administration, a Master’s in Education, and another in Educational Leadership. Jason holds a national certification as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator (CMAA) and was recognized as Athletic Director of the Year by Jersey Sporting News (2018), and the Shore Conference of High Schools (2022). In 2022, a national platform, BOUND sports named him “Athletic Director of Influence.” Jason has been honored by the NAACP, 525 Philanthropy Club, Latino American Association of Monmouth County, the City of Long Branch, and has been inducted into the Long Branch High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Committed to service, Jason served as the President of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Executive Committee (NJSIAA), Affordable Housing Alliance Board Trustee, Derrick Griggs Civic Association Board Trustee and is active with the Long Branch NAACP, Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board, Long Branch Elks Club, the Fidelity Lodge #42 F&AM-PHA along with several other local leadership organizations
Believing in the life-changing impact of education-based athletics, Jason is dedicated to mentoring youth through promoting character, leadership, teamwork, and giving back to the community that shaped him. Now, running for Assembly – Jason is looking to shape the future of Legislative District 13 to become more affordable and improve the quality of life from our Bayshore towns to our Western Municipalities.
Derrick Griggs has a BS in Finance and an MBA in Management & International Business, both from Rutgers University. While working full-time, Mr. Griggs completed an Executive Leadership program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Current roles: Mr. Griggs is the President & CEO of 4G Strategic Consulting, LLC; Chair of the Derrick T. Griggs Civic Association; and Chair of Commissioners for the Township of Neptune Housing Authority, where he is leading the redevelopment of the Heck Avenue Apartments. His civic engagements also include serving on the Board of Trustees for Monmouth Medical Center (a member of RWJBarnabas Health) and on the Community Board of Trustees for Quontic Bank. He is a former member of Governor Murphy’s and the NJ 11th Legislative District COVID Restart & Recovery Committee.
Previous leadership: Mr. Griggs served as Chief Executive Officer of Neighborhood Housing Services of NYC, Inc. (NHSNYC), a federally certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer of the Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) in Neptune, NJ, where AHA grew from 45 to 85 employees with an annual budget of approximately $15 million. His tenure included the acquisition and rehabilitation of Winding Ridge, preserving the 99-unit community’s long-term affordability in Neptune.
Earlier career: Mr. Griggs entered the nonprofit sector as the Great Recession disrupted families across New Jersey and the U.S., helping develop 47 properties in NJ and completing the first acquisition-rehab-resale using $50 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds from HUD. He began his career as a Business Analyst at Lucent Technologies in 2000, later working at Suburban Propane and concluding his corporate finance trajectory as Director of Operations Finance for Travelport.
Mr. Griggs is the father of three sons: Derrick Jr., Jason, and Ibrahim Griggs.
Nicholas (Nick) Williams was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey before relocating to the Jersey shore in 1991 with his wife Janet. He was a graduate of the New Jersey City University in 1975 where he received his B.A. in Elementary Education. He was an employee of the Hudson County Vocational-Technical School system retiring after 32 and serving as the Assistant Dean of Students for his last five years. He also worked from 1976 to 1990 for the New Jersey Sports Authority Security department finishing his career as the Officer In Charge of the Continental Arena and Giant Stadium overseeing the security operations of all functions which were held in the facility.
Nick believes his biggest learning asset was the interaction with all types of people and the ability to learn and feel comfortable in any situation with the patrons and assisting them the best he could.
Mr. Williams also feels through his work experiences he enjoyed the opportunity to continue to helping people and became very involved in his community volunteering his time to organizations which were the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management, The Answer water rescue team, the rapid response team for the American Red Cross, The Neptune Housing Authority Board of Commissioners from 2002 thru 2012 and serving as the Chairman from 2007 to 2012. Nicholas is currently a Commissioner again for the past two years and presently still serves the Board.
Elected to the Township Committee in 2016, he has served as the Police Commissioner in 2016, Deputy Mayor in both 2017and 2021. In 2018 he was appointed Mayor by the Committee members and reappointed Mayor in 2022. He feels that being part of the Derrick T. Griggs Civic Association will be an continuation serving both the youth and adults in the Monmouth County through his own experiences in education and the ability to work with people in their daily lives and sometimes struggles.
